Teaching Experience
I have been a teacher of Spanish and French at Cheadle Hulme High School since 2008 and in that time I have held a variety of positions of responsibility both within the faculty and as a Head of House. During my time at Cheadle Hulme I have helped to introduce Spanish at KS3; creating a department where French, German and Spanish are taught to GCSE level. I have also overseen the introduction of AS and A Level languages with the opening of our 6th form in 2013. The Languages Faculty has an excellent track record of results at GCSE and A Level with a particular strength in spoken language. Our department has a “Speak First” approach which has proved very successful in generating confidence and enthusiasm in our learners. I have delivered CPD on differentiation, oracy in MFL and other MFL-specific pedagogy. I have worked with a number of Heads of Languages on various aspects of MFL teaching including designing grammar-driven schemes of work, creating compelling teaching contexts and how to scaffold language learning.
