Just before half term, the Drama Department ran our first ever Year 10 GCSE Drama residential to Menai in Wales.
This fantastic opportunity gave students the chance to engage in a full weekend of practical workshops led by professional theatre practitioners.
They explored a wide range of devising theatre techniques, from physical theatre workshops to Brecht and abstract storytelling sessions, all designed to broaden their knowledge of devising strategies.
The students had a brilliant time from start to finish and threw themselves into every activity with energy and enthusiasm, showcasing their dedication, talent and creativity throughout.
Mrs Ryan, Head of Drama, commented:
“We are incredibly proud of the students’ achievements during the trip. They engaged like real professionals and we are already seeing the benefits of their new knowledge in the drama classroom, as they are bringing in fresh ideas and exercises learned from the workshops to share with their group and help develop and shape their Component 1 devised examination pieces. They left the coach on Sunday tired, but hugely inspired! We cannot wait for next year’s trip. Well done to all involved.”
