Students at Cheadle Hulme High School, the founding school of the Laurus Trust, are celebrating an exceptional set of A Level results, with 2026 marking the school’s strongest performance ever for the fourth consecutive year.

An outstanding 84% of all grades were awarded at A-B, while 59% were achieved at A/A*. Students attained an impressive average grade of A-, reflecting the dedication, resilience and ambition demonstrated by students and staff.

The school is especially proud of its highest achievers, with 36% of students securing at least three A or A* grades or better, and ten students achieving three or more A* grades, an exceptional accomplishment.

Students will now progress to a wide range of prestigious destinations. Four students have secured places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, with courses including Human Sciences at Oxford and Medicine, Geography, and Spanish and Linguistics at Cambridge.

A further ten students will study highly competitive courses in Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Science. More than three-quarters of the cohort will progress to Russell Group universities and other leading higher education institutions across the country.

The breadth of student destinations is equally impressive, with an increasing number of students embarking on prestigious Degree Apprenticeships and one student taking up a university place in the United States. These outcomes reflect the diverse ambitions and aspirations of this year’s leavers.

Dave Brown, Head of Cheadle Hulme High School, said:
“We are absolutely delighted with these results. Achieving our best ever outcomes for the fourth consecutive year is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the hard work, determination and ambition of our students, as well as the unwavering support of our staff and families.

“These results have opened doors to an exciting range of opportunities, and we could not be prouder of everything this cohort has achieved. We look forward to seeing the positive impact they will make as they embark on the next stage of their journeys.”

Linda Magrath OBE, CEO of the Laurus Trust, said:
“These results are simply phenomenal, and I am immensely proud of every student who has contributed to this success. To see Cheadle Hulme High School achieve its strongest ever Sixth Form outcomes in my final year before retirement is particularly special.

“Since the founding of the Laurus Trust, our vision has always been to provide young people with an exceptional education that enables them to thrive and fulfil their aspirations. Today’s achievements are a powerful reflection of that vision in action. My heartfelt congratulations go to our students, staff and families, whose dedication and ambition have made these record-breaking results possible.”
