Students at Cheadle Hulme High School, the founding school of the Laurus Trust, are celebrating another exceptional year of GCSE results, with 2025 marking the school’s best ever outcomes – beating even last year’s record-breaking results.
An incredible 75% of Year 11 students achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and Maths, setting a new school record.
Overall, 42% of all GCSE grades were grade 7 or above, and a fantastic four students achieved grade 9s in every subject they sat – an extraordinary accomplishment.
An amazing 111 students got 5 or more GCSEs at grade 7 or above.
The school is also celebrating the achievements of its Year 9 cohort, who all sat GCSEs in French, German and Spanish. 78% of students achieved a grade 5 or above, and 41% of all grades were grade 7 or above, continuing the school’s long-standing tradition of excellence in Modern Foreign Languages.
These results follow last week’s impressive A Level success, where the Sixth Form also achieved its highest ever outcomes: 81% of all grades were B or above, and 50% were A or A*, reflecting the school’s continued commitment to academic excellence.
Dave Brown, Head of School, said:
“We’re absolutely over the moon with this year’s GCSE results. Our students have shown incredible grit and ambition, and they’ve proved that with the right support, the playing field really can be levelled. A huge thank you to our amazing staff for always going the extra mile, and to our families for standing firmly behind our young people. We can’t wait to see so many of our Year 11s join us in the Sixth Form and we’ll be cheering on every single one of them as they take their next steps, wherever that may lead.”
Linda Magrath OBE, CEO of the Laurus Trust, said:
“Our students never fail to impress us, and once again they’ve smashed it with a phenomenal set of results. These achievements are about more than just grades – they’re about raising aspirations so that every young person can aim high. At the Laurus Trust we are unashamedly academic and unapologetically aspirational, and today’s results show just what that means in practice. We couldn’t be prouder.”
