Students at Cheadle Hulme High School are celebrating another exceptional set of GCSE results today, with 2026 marking the school’s best ever outcomes for the fourth consecutive year.

An impressive 76% of students achieved grade 5 or above in both English and Maths, while 41% of all GCSE grades were awarded at grade 7 or above. Students achieved an outstanding average grade of 6 across all subjects, reflecting the school’s continued commitment to academic excellence and high aspirations for every young person.

The school is particularly proud of its highest-achieving students, with 11 students securing all grade 8s and 9s across their subjects. Three students achieved the top grade of 9 in eight subjects, an exceptional accomplishment reflecting years of dedication and hard work.

The achievements of the school’s Year 9 cohort were equally impressive. Students sitting GCSE examinations in French, German and Spanish continued Cheadle Hulme High School’s long-standing tradition of excellence in modern foreign languages, with 81% of grades awarded at grade 5 or above and 54% achieving grade 7 or above.

The results follow last week’s record-breaking A Level outcomes, which saw students achieve the Sixth Form’s best-ever results for the fourth consecutive year, with 58% of grades awarded at A or A* and 82% at grade B or above.

Dave Brown, Headteacher at Cheadle Hulme High School, said:
“We are absolutely delighted with this year’s GCSE results. To achieve our best-ever outcomes for the fourth year running is a truly remarkable achievement and one that reflects the talent, resilience and ambition of our students. These outstanding GCSE results, alongside the exceptional A Level outcomes celebrated last week, represent the best results ever achieved by both Cheadle Hulme High School and its Sixth Form. To see the school reach these new heights in my final year before retirement is incredibly special and a source of enormous pride.
