We aim to give the students at CHHS those extra experiences or equipment that are not able to be funded from regular school funds that help keep Cheadle Hulme High School one of the area’s leading schools.
Date of next Friends Meeting: Wednesday 19th September 7pm
Who we are
Meetings are open to parents/carers, staff, grandparents, friends and ex-students – hence we call ourselves “Friends of CHHS” rather than the PTA. We meet informally in term time to plan fundraising activities and approve funding requests for worthwhile projects that give the pupils those extra experiences or equipment that is not able to be funded from regular school funds. Our activities help support the excellent staff team to keep Cheadle Hulme High School one of the best in the area.
We’d love you to come and support us – we are always looking for new ideas and opinions, and welcome all support and involvement no matter how great or small. There is no commitment so please come along to our next meeting to meet us and find out who we are and what we do.
We are set up as a registered charity and so have elected officers, regular meetings and an Annual General Meeting. Our Chair is Fiona Kennedy, the treasurer is Robin Tryon and our secretary is Judith Castledine (supported by Vicki Holt).
How you can support the Friends of CHHS Group without even attending our meetings!
Attend our fundraising events through the year; watch out for emails and flyers home. Last year we organised refreshments for the school production, a fresher’s quiz and a Christmas Market.
Shop on Line! If you sign up on our Easy Fundraising Page (it takes less than 5 minutes) it’s really easy. If you are thinking about coming along to a meeting, please feel free to just turn up! Dates are published on this website – you will receive a warm welcome and we won’t put any pressure on you to join in any more than you want to….promise!
In the last year or so staff mainly have brought requests for funding to the meetings where they have a chance to explain their need and be questioned by members of the group.
We have funded a weather station for the Geography department, a thermal press and sublimation printer for Design and Technology, House badges and incentive prizes, and sports presentation trophies. We also allocated funds to the English department to bring a professional writer in to run workshops and subsidised theatre visits for a whole year group.
