Sixth Form Policy Consultation

The Laurus Trust is the admissions authority for Cheadle Hulme High School and is consulting on the admissions policy for entry into the Sixth Form in September 2023. Sections 1.45-1.48 of the School Admissions Code (2021) require all admissions authorities to formally consult on any proposed changes to their admission arrangements.

The consultation process will run from 8 November to 17 December 2021. If you wish to give your views you must submit your response during this period by completing the response form provided below.

Who is involved in the consultation?

  • parents/carers of children between ages of two and 18
  • other persons in the area who in the opinion of the admission authority have an interest in the proposed admissions
  • all other admission authorities in the local area
  • the Local Authority

Our vision for Cheadle Hulme Sixth Form

For every student, regardless of background or circumstance, to achieve the A Level grades which will open the door to the future of their choice, including access to the most competitive and prestigious universities and professions.

Rationale for the consultation

Cheadle Hulme Sixth Form opened in September 2013 to a first cohort of 54 students. The sixth form has experienced growth in applications and admission numbers each year, and in September 2021 welcomed 155 students into Year 12. The proposed changes to the admission arrangements are to simplify the oversubscription criteria in light of the increased demand for places at the school, but to prioritise students attending Cheadle Hulme High School only. We continue to welcome external applicants who meet the entry requirements.

What happens next?

At the end of the consultation period the Laurus Trust will consider all responses to the proposal and will determine the admission arrangements for 2023/24 by 28 February 2022, at which time they will be published on the school’s website.
